Is someone you care about in the last phase of their life?

Be guided in turning your unspoken words into an exquisite gift.

In the remaining months of their life, share with someone you care about how their presence in your life contributed to you and your well-being.

When I knew my mother was soon going to die, I felt an urgency to still honestly express and share my unspoken words of appreciation, mourning, love and compassion.

I wanted her to be known with how she affected me and my well-being.

Laying in her hospice bed, a smile appeared on my mom’s face when she said:
‘I did not expect this! They are beautiful! Keep drawing!’

Is someone you care about nearing the end of their life?

May you, and those around you, be held with warmth, love, compassion and accompaniment.

Knowing we are going to lose someone is experienced differently by everyone.
But for most, lots of different emotions are present in this time of life. Thoughts about what was, what could have been and what will never happen or happen again, arise when we least expect them.
We get in touch with whom and what matters to us and though we may be emotionally close – or not – with our person, sharing what we still want to be known for or what we want them to know, isn’t as easy as one might think.

Are you uncertain how to start a conversation about what you still want to share because you feel …

  • ambivalent about what you do and don’t want to share?
  • hesitant to express your deepest beautiful and/or sad truth?
  • concerned because you know you are running out of time?
  • fearful that you will be left with your own agonizing thoughts about what you should have said while it was still possible?
  • worried that later on this will evoke feelings of guilt, shame, pain or suffering within yourself?

If you were to be guided in this emotional time of your life, would it be easier for you to start conversations you feel sensitive about?

Think of this time in your relationship as the last opportunity to genuinely share what matters to you and perhaps even have open-hearted and heartfelt conversations.

As an empathy based conflict coach and mediator, I am here to support you have as little regrets and pain, and as much connection, harmony and inner peace as possible. Let me guide you to …

1. Reflect on your experience of the relationship with the person you care about and identify how they effect your life and well-being.
2. Prepare to confidently having conversations you might fear to have but that significantly affect your internal dialogue, thoughts and emotions after they pass away.
3. Reduce feelings of guilt, shame, anger and pain within yourself for not expressing what mattered to you while this was still possible.
4. Strengthen the connection and harmony during the last months of your relationship so you can better accompany them in this emotional period in which they need warmth, affection, care, empathy and compassion.
5. Bring closure to the relationship, so you have a smile on your face and peace in your heart when you think of memories.
6. Honour and celebrate the life you lived together.

To help you achieve this, you get access to the accompanying
Reflection Program & Journal in which I show you how to use my

I feel impressed and touched by the amount of work I can sense behind all that, and it gives me trust that generosity and the will to contribute with high quality is a value shared by many people.

It brings me joy and hope, which these days is a precious thing to feel. Thank you.”

“Hi Mireille, just wanted to let you know the writing prompts are absolutely fantastic and insightful!

The cards arrived and they look even more beautiful in person! I look forward writing on them when I’m ready! Thank you so much for the sweet card you included.

I bought the cards because I think we often wait too long to express to others what we appreciate about them, and sometimes the end comes suddenly, and other times when the end is approaching the person no longer has the ability to read or understand what I wrote, and I just think it’s wonderful to tell one another these things while we’re still here and actively engaging in a relationship. Your cards remind me of my Nonviolent Communication practice and they’re also really beautiful. A long time ago I wrote little notes for loved ones about what I appreciated about them, but I think with your cards that could be more focused on what really matters and a more beautiful gift.

“Thanks a lot for your swan cards. I used them as a personal gift to 14 participants in a Nonviolent Communication Workshop. My idea was to invite them to choose one need, out fourteen which I had written on paper, at the beginning of the day one. I asked them to experiment to connect to the idea of this need being fulfilled during the next two days. At the end of the two days, I gave them the swan card with their personal name on the envelop, and asked them about their experience with this need during the past two days. Did they manage to stay connected to it? And what other feedback did they have?

I liked listening to people enjoying sharing what they felt, focusing on one particular need during two days… This was my pleasure to celebrate your beautiful cards!”

With gratitude for Hospice ‘De Liefde’ in Rotterdam …

… for all their care, love, attention, listening and guidance.

And with special appreciation for the 40 volunteers working there, for dedicating their time to supporting the residents to live in a peaceful and loving home.

“The imagery on Mireille’s swan cards capture the essence of each need they depict. I’ve written several notes to loved ones on these cards. Each time, the act of looking at each image and need invites me into a deep reflection on my relationships and what the person who will receive the card means to me. And I’ve heard from each person how deeply touched they were by the depth of expression the cards elicit. The swan cards are a beautiful support for self-connection and heartfelt expression.
